While the Amerindo Self Defense system has a large amount of material, the basic curriculum can be easily outlined:

  1. Hormat (respect – perhaps the best survival tool)
  2. Awareness (which is intimately tied to hormat)
  3. Stepping – Lanka (evasive and tactical footwork)
  4. Striking – Jurus (hands, elbows, knees, kicks and body)
  5. Body Position – Sikap
  6. Awareness of balance and angles for you and your opponent (results in the combination of position, stepping and striking)
  7. Locks and Counters
  8. Takedowns
  9. Finishing Techniques and Strategies
  10. Ground Techniques
  11. Weapons (blade, stick, cabang)
